Lost at Sea

Susan Mann Dolce

Remembering
holding
your
gaze
as
you
died,
now,
lost
at
sea,
floating,
searching
for
signs
of
life,
the
horizon

Driving
yesterday,
ducks
in
dark
gray
brown
water,
silhouetted
puffy
charcoal
clouds,
I’m
floating
with
you
in
13th
Lake

Sadness
simmers
in
my
belly,
held
hostage
in
busyness,
month
after
month
making
my
way

Forcing
myself
to
start
the
day,
shrinking
with
effort,
longing
for
one
touch,
smile,
gaze.
